Drinking a lot of water will result in frequent urination which could lead to the flushing out of all the nutrients, especially electrolytes, out of your body giving it less time or no chance to be absorbed. This deficiency could lead to irregular heartbeats, which could affect your baby.

Depending on your activities and the climatic conditions, 6-8 glasses of water should keep you hydrated. If you feel the need to drink more, do not stop yourself. However, you should not force yourself to drink more water unless your body requires it. Also, drinking excessive water will leave your stomach full with no place for your regular diet and thereby depriving your body of the required nutrition. Moderation should always be the key when it comes to water intake and diet during pregnancy. This will make sure that your body is not deprived of food rich in vitamins and nutrients.
